Do you know a synonym for “commissioning”?
“Activation, connection, switching on or putting into service” is what websites such as Thesaurus or Collins suggest. That is clearly not enough for us. If we look at the origin of the term “commissioning”, it is more appropriate: “committere” in Latin means, among other things, “to bring together” or “to entrust”. That's how we see it. We bring you, our customer, together with our equipment and enable you to work with it. What is important here?

Perhaps you have already experienced a situation like this in your business or private life: you have purchased a great technical device - ideally at an unbeatable price. But as soon as you use it for the first time, you are annoyed by the lack of information and tedious searches on the Internet. In the worst case, nobody feels responsible. What value does the product have then?
We don't usually notice good service. It is simply there. Poor service, on the other hand, is often noticed when it is already too late: when a machine breaks down and causes high downtime costs. To enable you to check in advance whether your supplier will also provide you with reliable support during commissioning, we present our checklist, i.e. our synonyms for commissioning at DEVO-Tech:
Commissioning means knowledge transfer
We want you to know your DEVO-Tech equipment as well as possible. That's why we provide you with all the information about your newly purchased device in the form of complete technical documentation: operating instructions, technical drawings and maintenance plans. “That's standard and nothing special,” you're probably thinking. That's right. The special thing here is not whether, but HOW:
- How do you find the information you need as quickly as possible?
- In which situations do you pick up the technical documentation?
- Which form - electronic or paper - is best suited to your purpose?
- In which languages do you need the documentation?
We address these and many other questions in order to offer you maximum user-friendliness.
The most important synonym for us: safety
Do you feel safe with your system? In addition to fulfilling legal obligations, our main concern is to offer you maximum safety when working with our products. Long before commissioning - namely when we design your machine - we carry out a risk assessment to identify potential risks and take appropriate protective measures.
During or after completion of production and assembly of your system, we use checklists and internal quality processes to ensure that all safety devices such as emergency stop switches, protective covers and sensors etc. are properly installed and functional. Only when your product has successfully passed through these processes and all the boxes have been ticked will we send it on its way to you - professionally packed and stowed away.
Commissioning means support
When your equipment arrives, we are also on site for the most important part of commissioning: personal training, instruction and final acceptance, including a test run in your production facility. What happens during this time?
- Employee training and instruction:
Based on our many years of experience, we show your operating and maintenance personnel everything they need to know to operate the system safely, efficiently and in a way that conserves resources. To ensure that we don't forget anything or anyone, we document everything in our training logs.
The instructed employees confirm their newly acquired knowledge and skills with their signature. - Test run and final acceptance:
Integrated into a complex overall process such as the production of concrete segments for tunnel lining, the test run presents many other challenges. These include the connection to compressed air and electrics, as well as cycle times, safety distances, escape routes and much more.
Before the final quality control and acceptance by your responsible engineers or technicians, we ensure that all requirements are met. - External inspection
If necessary, we are happy to carry out an inspection or audit with an external service provider to additionally confirm compliance with all safety and quality standards.
As you can see, commissioning means much more than just pressing a button. Here too, experience, expertise and, above all, a pronounced service philosophy pay off: “We only leave the construction site or production when everyone is satisfied.”
